The Association for Retarded Citizens, Petersburg Area, Inc. is a non-profit Organization established in 1955 for the purpose of promoting the well-being of individuals with mental retardation living in the cities of Petersburg, Colonial Heights, and Hopewell and the counties of Dinwiddie, Prince George, and Chesterfield; all in the state of Virginia.

Support
Promote development of programs on behalf of individuals with mental retardation
Encourage research relating to the prevention of mental retardation
Advise and aid parents and family members in the resolution of problems related to the special family member
