Osage
House
Osage House is a 12
bedroom, 24 hour residential facility which is designed to provide housing and
training in independent living skills for individuals with mental disabilities,
residing in the cities of Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Hopewell and the
counties of Dinwiddie and Prince
George.

Osage
House operates according to the “normalization principle” meaning that all
persons living in the home should have the same opportunity to engage in and
make use of community activities and resources as would non-disabled persons.

House provides a program of care which is designated to meet the resident’s
physical needs, provide protection, guidance and supervision, to promote a sense
of security and self-worth and to meet individual training needs

Scope of
Services
- Osage House
provides 24 hour supervision; individuals who reside in the program must be
enrolled in a day program to meet their individual needs.

Admissions Criteria
- Must
be 18 years of age or older.
- Test
within the mild, moderate or severe range of mental retardation.
- Any
medical problems should be to the point that they can be handled on an
outpatient basis.
- Have
the ability to adjust to group living situations.
- Free
of severe mental disorder that would require any type of restraint or
confinement.
- Have
an appropriate day placement.
